what are vivablox units?

vivablox units are pre-fabricated residential studio units made from shipping containers.  they are ready to be installed via foundation or pier system on land to become real property.

they are classified as factory-built buildings (FBBs) and are compliant with the latest building codes.

why shipping containers?

shipping containers are strong, durable, over-engineered structures that are forged from steel.  they are capable of holding 50,000 pounds of cargo and being stacked 6 high as they traverse the ocean elements and are buffeted by sun, wind, ran, hail, etc.  they are standardized structures used by the international shipping industry, which means that the industry will always generate used shipping containers.

we take units that would otherwise be costly to dispose of or melt down, and up-cycle them into affordable, sustainable housing.

are the units safe?

yes.  our processes ensure that the units are ready and safe for occupancy regardless of how the shipping container was used.

we have partnered with a national, 100% employee-owned consulting engineering firm, specializing in environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services, with more than 5,000 employees in more than 175 locations, to craft vivablox’s environmental, health, and safety plan. each shipping container starts with testing of the levels of oxygen, combustible gases, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), asbestos in eligible materials, and lead-based paint. remediation is then performed until the levels are well within acceptable ranges. then an impermeable layer is coated over the flooring.  additionally, the construction materials themselves, such as paint and flooring, are low-VOC.

what is the cost of a unit?

our estimated pricing is $59,500 per unit.  this includes the complete self-contained unit with cabinetry, refrigerator, microwave, electric cooktop, shower, vanity, and toilet.

the price does not include installation, utility connection, site work, transportation, furniture, or washer/dryer unit.

where can vivablox units be used?

our unit is flexible – it can be used as an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in your backyard, or as part of a multi-unit development on a vacant piece of land or of an existing property.

climate-wise, it is designed to be used anywhere within arizona!  however, an accessory roof will need to be added for climates with significant snow load requirements.
