sustainable

up-cycled:
each unit starts with a used shipping container that we up-cycle for a higher use – and in doing, save 7.5 metric tons of carbon emissions compared to building with new steel.

right-sized:
the unit size means that heating and cooling can deliver comfortable climate control without expending unnecessary energy.

energy and water efficient:
high-density spray foam insulation and efficient air conditioning minimize the electricity usage, and electric cooktop avoids the need for gas altogether.  modern water fixtures ensure style, functionality, and low water usage to further minimize utility costs and environmental impact.

efficient process:
our manufacturing process minimizes transportation and generates almost no material waste compared to typical on-site construction.

vivablox units are designed for sustainability, from the raw materials, to the manufacturing process, to their energy and water efficiency when they’re lived in

built to last

forged from steel:
shipping containers are built to be extremely strong structurally.  they are built to carry 59,000 pounds of cargo, and stack 7 high (supporting 354,000 pounds stacked on top) – over-engineered for residential building.  our modifications have been reviewed and engineered to preserve the unit’s incredible structural strength.

durable:
containers are built with weathering (“COR-TEN”) steel that is corrosion-resistant and was designed to hold up to the harshest conditions – being exposed to the elements during international cargo shipping on ocean liners, trains, and trucks.

unparalleled quality control:
manufactured our units in a controlled facility means that we can monitor every detail for the highest quality control.

vivablox units carry a 10-year structural warranty and are built to last with high-quality materials and processes from the outside in.

simple process

1. order
once you have reserved your unit, our team will reach out to you to discuss how you’ll be using the unit, where you’ll be installing it, and approximate timing.

2. prepare
you or your architect will work with your local city/town/county and the state to apply for approval of your site plan, then have your site prepared with site work complete and utilities brought to the unit.

3. install
after your unit is ordered, we will communicate an estimated unit completion date and keep you up to date.  when the unit is complete, we will coordinate a time for you to pick up and install your unit – typically your installation contractor will be able to complete this in one day!

4. enjoy
when the unit is installed, it will be considered real property with a COO (certificate of occupancy), and ready to use as an accessory dwelling unit!
